At Antidote Computer Services (founded 1997), I firmly believe that its going to take the growth of small businesses across the country to get our economy moving again. When Wall Street crashes, Main Street has to pick up the pieces. In the 1990's, hundreds of small Mom & Pop shops exploded onto the Internet to become seemingly instant successes overnight. Economic growth was driven by small businesses, not huge Wall Street conglomerates whose only interest was in making a few more bucks on Wall Street at the expense of their people.

Even though the proverbial bubble burst, there are many things that we can learn about that time. The economy was strong and growing. Its growth came from (among other things) a grassroots up-swing in the growth and the success of small businesses, not the ever-looming giants of Wall Street. Although the companies that survived the era, are today, giants on Wall Street, that is not where they got their start.

To fix the economy, and preserve the American dream, small businesses, the employers' of 80% of the American workforce, must again find a way to grow their businesses. To stand still in this economy is to die. The challenge will be for small businesses to find opportunities to sell their products and services at a time when the American consumer isn't buying.

I'm ready to do my part. Can you help me?

Antidote Computer Services was founded in 1997 by me (picture @ left) to provide database development services to small and medium-sized businesses in the St Louis Metropolitan region. Today, we also offer computer and network technical support services, website development services, and Internet hosting services. I am the last employee of Antidote Computer Services. I am a Geek (not to be confused with the employees of the Geek Squad; I am not, nor have I ever been, nor will I ever be, associated with the Geek Squad), and proud of it. But Geeks rarely make good salespeople, just like salespeople rarely make good Geeks. To keep the dream alive, Antidote Computer Services needs extroverted, outgoing, talented, professionals to join the dream and help us to drive sales. Are you one of those people?

Help Wanted

Antidote Computer Services is seeking 1 or 2 talented, professionals, who would appreciate the opportunity to work as a salesperson in the Information Technolgy industry such that:
  1. I can convert some of my free time into billable hours, and
  2. I can hire additional folks and
  3. I can strive to make your job what it would be at a larger firm
and do my part to start the economy growing again
*.

Antidote Computer Services has never had the budget to compete with larger companies in the hiring of a salesperson with regard to salaries and commission, and although today is no different there is something that is different, today. Today, unemployment is the highest that its been in many years. Everyday we read as more and more people lose their jobs and the prospect for replacement jobs dwindles. Without new jobs, there is a growing segment of the population in St Louis which will find it hard to be gainfully employed in the near future. If you think you fall into this category, then please read on. It may be worth your while.
So, I'm looking for very special candidates for these positions.
  • Are you unemployed?note
  • Have your prospects at finding the next job dried up?
  • Are you an outgoing, self-motivated, talented, individual who recognizes that half a job is better than no job?
  • Have you ever been, or ever wanted to be, or ever considered being a salesperson?
Then I want to talk to you. I have been in that situation. I know what you're going through. I want to help. But I hear you saying...."What's the catch?"
You're right there is a catch.
The catch is simple.
  1. I need your help.
  2. I cannot afford to pay more than a commission on the sales that you bring in.
  3. I am currently the only employee, so your pay is going to be based on the number of billable hours that I can work in a month until I can justify hiring my clone.
There are advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages Disadvantages
  • You could make up tonote $60,000 annually for each consultant that you keep working.
  • There would be some money coming in that would help you with your bills.
  • I'm willing to hire additional geeks to handle the volume of billable hours that you bring in.
  • How much you make in a month is totally up to you. There is no cap on your commission.
  • I'll pay you on a 1099 basis, and you can decide on how and when you want to deal with Uncle Sam.
  • Technically, you're still working, and its easier to get a job when you've got a job.
  • I recognize that as a small business, I may not be your ideal idea of a great long term job. So make sure you do the best job you can for me, and I'll write a letter of recommendation for you.
  • Your time is your time. Work when you want. Work how you want.
  • Extra cash in your pocket while you're "off work"
  • Antidote Computer Services is a small company. At least initially, you won't be able to make a full time wage.
  • It takes time to grow the company enough to guarantee long term income for salespeople.
  • No base pay. This is a commission only gig.
  • If you don't work, you won't get paid.
  • In some cases you have to wait until I get paid.
  • No benefits. No health insurance.
This is a Win-Win opportunity. We win because we get more business than we had before and I get to continue to be self-employed. You win because you can make some $$$ to help you through the lean times while you're "off work".
